Shirley Sings a Chinese (Tibet) Folk Song--058: Fan Shi Nongnu Ba Ge Chang --The Theme Song of Movie "Today's Tibet"

LISTEN TO SHIRLEY TO SING THE SONG

On Friday night a couple of friends invited me out to dinner. In the restaurant there were some Uigur girls from Xinjiang dancing on the stage and their beautiful dances and songs left me with a deep impression, so on Saturday afternoon, while I was preparing my vocal music lesson, a beautiful song from their neighboring Tibet jumped into my mind.

This is the theme song to the movie “Today’s Tibet” which I learned it 1 year and 8 months ago in Oct, 2005 . At that time, I found it a very difficult song for me to learn how to sing and both my vocal music teacher and I were not satisfied with our work. :-)

Tonight, before I went to the wedding of one of my colleagues, my teacher directed me to sing this song and we recorded it once more.

My Teacher thinks that I have made some progress, but I feel that I have still not really sung it well enough yet and I didn’t have time to sing it again tonight because I had to go to the wedding. I will certainly learn to sing it again someday and make some new progress in the near future. I do think that my learning of the art of music and of painting will not be restricted; they will accompany me for the rest of my life. :-)

Anyway, I have now put it on my web site; on one hand I hope that my little bit of progress will make you smile and on the other, I hope it will be a little help to you in improving your Chinese aural comprehension and in knowing more about Chinese culture.

MAIN MEANING OF THE SONGLISTEN TO SHIRLEY TO SING THE SONG:

The bright sun is shining in the blue sky,
The tercel is flying over the Snowy Mountains,
The spring scenery of the tableland is so beautiful,
How can I not sing?

The snowy mountain is flashing silver lights,
Brahmaputra River is flowing with its waves.
Blow away the clouds to see the sun,
Happy songs are flying to all places.
