A New Year, A New Start -- Shirley's 120th Friendly Greeting -- Sun, Dec 30, 2007

Hi,Dear Friends
 How are you? I do hope that you are well and have an easy and relaxed weekend.
We started a 4 days New Years Holiday on Friday night. I continued my research report Saturday morning.
Last year I led project groups to complete 3 research reports with 110.000 Chinese characters, except daily work. In 2007, I spent more time to make our thoughts and opinions to work. Last years, I worked on different single media or a part of the producing process. In 2007, I spent more energy to adjust the work or relationship among the multimedia -- magazine, newspaper, web site, TV, telephone, mobile phone and database daily. To work or to adjust whole of the producing process -- design, development, maintaining, marketing, sales and customer service.
I am lucky as the only company manager to touch the first hand company business information, phenomena and problems via a manager meeting every morning. I do think that my duty and obligation are not only to resolve the problems themselves during the working process, I should also think and research them, to lift the research result to be some business theory to serve and to help the company. Then, I will not be sorry to the company, to my position as a senior manager with a doctoral degree on business management.
So, no one asks me to work in the New Year’s Holiday. I have been keeping working on my research report at this time for 5 years.
Instead of driving, I walked to my office in the songs of the birds and the sweet smell of the flowers with a peaceful heart in the morning. After working for 3 to 5 hours, I came back home to enjoy my holiday with my own birds, painting, music and language learning.
After treating my first vocal music teacher a Christmas dinner, I stopped her lesson. In 2008, I will keep learning to sing from my new vocal music teacher from Shanghai Music College, to learn painting from my current art teacher. Also, I have applied to be a student of Beijing Foreign Language University, to learn English via the Internet mainly for 3 years.
I am happy, for finally I have found an advanced and a flexible style to learn English in the best Foreign Language University of China.
Because of my education background, I need not attend their entrance examination and I need not learn their 4 public lessons for the other students. I will just learn 16 English lessons. I have confidence in myself to complete them with a good achievement. After all, I have been looking forward to get a formal English education opportunity for a long time. After all, I have been looking for a suitable learning style for many years. I am happy for my dream will be true in the near future.

Shirley Created Art -- Gouache--0109: By the Sea
This is the 8th picture that I have painted within the first 5 weeks, since I started to learn Gouache. My teacher could not offer me a lesson this week, so, I taught myself to complete two pictures Tuesday night and Thursday night. With the opportunity to have a meeting in the mother company, I went to art book store to buy 13 art books to teach myself Friday noon. Do you know? During I learned Chinese painting, I bought over 300 art books. Now, along with the 5 weeks gouache learning, I have bought 20 books on it. I love gouache for its beautiful colors, for they do not change after drying as the Chinese colors. I am attracted by it and there are many pictures in my mind to wait for me to paint. My teacher has not commented my last two pictures yet. What is your opinion? Do you like this one?

Shirley Created Art -- Gouache--0108: No Title
People wonder why I especially enjoy painting landscape? Because I especially love the Great Nature. In my heart, no matter a tree or a river, a flower or a piece of grass, the land or the sky, they all have lives. When all the alive and beautiful things have been combined on one picture with a suitable style, they would create something more wonderful with passion or peace. So, during the process to communication with the nature via painting, I always feel an enjoyment in my heart. I have not mastered the way to paint the inverted reflections of the trees in the water. So, I would like to see the true inverted reflection more. How do you think of this picture? Do you like it?

Instrument Music--004:Symphony -- The Beautiful Blue Danube By Johann Strauss
Originally, I wanted to sing the Beautiful Blue Danube from the movie The Great Waltz. However, the more I learned the music, the more I felt that I needed not to sing. One hand, there are too many lyric visions; the other hand, I felt the music itself is just the best song with its own world music language. Maybe just for this reason, I have bought over 900 symphonies, concertos, piano music by Beethoven, Mozart, Johann Strauss, Chopin, Haydn, Tschaikovsky, Dvorak since I came back from Europe in 2000. I do feel lucky to live in the beautiful world with music together! I have translated one of the lyrics into Chinese. I do hope it will be a little bit help to you to learn Chinese while enjoying the music.

I am in my New Year's holiday now. However, I am working on my yearly researching report and I would like to complete it as soon as possible. So, I keep working in my office for a while every day so that I have no time to create a piece of music to match a Chinese classical poem as I did. So, I would like to show you a piece of music that I had created to match a classical poem in April, 2007. Then a picture that I created to match it in July, 2007. I do hope that my music, singing, painting and comments about this poem will bring you an enjoyment and to be a little bit help to you to improve your Chinese and to know more about Chinese culture.

I am just a learner on that art of painting, music, calligraphy, languages and to work on the web site in my free time. I would really like to do a little bit things with what I have learned to make this little web site to be An Electronic Bridge Of Culture Exchange, Friendship and Language Learning. To help the others while to improve myself.
