Planting & Gain - Shirley's 137th Friendly Greeting -- Sun, April 20, 2008

Hi,Dear Friends
 How are you? I do hope that you are well, have an easy and relaxed weekend.
Spring is the planting season. This Sunday, more than 200 volunteers of our company took part in the activity of 10.000 Shenzhen citizens to plant trees to welcome a green Beijing Olympic Game, after we just donated and sent volunteers to plant trees to block off the desert in Inner Mongolia.
Yes, to plant in the spring is just for the gain in the autumn. After working hard for many years, this week, we have gotten some pieces good news.
On April 12, the president of China, Mr. Hu Jintao interviewed some delegates of domestic corporations during The Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2008 . Our general manager was one of the delegates of the journalism.
On April 11, The BFA Golf Invitational 2008, that was sponsored by the magazine office of our company as the prelude of the Forum was a success. The former president of Philippine and the former prime minister of Australia attended the open ceremony.
Since April 14, our TV programs have been entering into Beijing as the youngest financial and securities TV channels of China, after creating the highest TV audience rating in Shenzhen and Guangzhou and after going through some keen competitions.
They symbolize that our effort for 15 years on creating a unique multimedia financial and securities information system via newspaper, magazine, web site, TV, mobile phone, PC and the stock exchange system has been admitted and successfully. We are proud of our work while we feel bigger responsibilities and obligations.
In my free time, the biggest gain this week is, that I have seen many problems, mistake in my daily English via the learning in Beijing Foreign Studies University online.
I was satisfied that I could communicate with native English speakers and I did not realize that I had been working with "Shirley's Free English" without rules, so that I did not pay more attention to the requirements of the BFSU until this week, when I worked on my task online. Now I have known that English is a serious and artistic language as the other science and art, I must work on it seriously and carefully. Any little negligence will make some mistake or misunderstanding. Via the lesson online, I also have known that there are many blanks or blind spots in my English knowledge frame. Grammar is one of the biggest problems. It is blocking me to improve myself. So, I do have had a direction to learn English now.

Shirley Created Combined Art -- 016: Guan Ju
I had been thinking of creating a picture to match the artistic conception of Guan Ju. So, I completed it Saturday night after I had created a piece of music to match it. I painted it for a few nights, but, I had imagined it for several weeks. I am not sure what an osprey looks like, so I painted a couple of birds that I liked there. Ha, I do feel that it is not easy to become an artist for it requests me to learn so many things, flower, bird, insect, fish, tree, sky, sun, moon, mountain, river and everything. However, I am happy that is helping me to learn something new every day. Now I am meeting the difficulty of paper again. I need the paper for my birds as Gongbi style while I need the paper for my trees and water as Xieyi style. I have not dealt with them on the same piece of paper yet. How do you think of this picture? Do you like it?

Chinese Classical Poem 0110 - R.001 & Shirley Created Music-0085-R001: Guan Jun - Singing Opreys
As the other nations, Chinese people also admire the beautiful love. That is why, as the most ancient folk love poem in the Chinese poetry history. Guan Ju was collected into the first poetry anthology of China -- Shi Jing and be listed on No. 1. It wrote an interesting love story. A couple of Ju Jiu (ospreys) on the sandbar in the river made a man think that a beautiful girl should be his ideal spouse. He missed her and he could not get sleepy. Then, he decided to court her. The first 4 lines are very popular in China and be chosen into many books for children. So, except painting, I have re-written the music that I had created in 2005. I re-played it and re-sang it in English and in Chinese. Also, I have recorded the poem and my poem comments into two files. I do hope that what I am learning to do via painting, music and culture will be a little bit help to you to learn Chinese.

I am just a learner on that art of painting, music, calligraphy, languages and to work on the web site in my free time. I would really like to do a little bit things with what I have learned to make this little web site to be An Electronic Bridge Of Culture Exchange, Friendship and Language Learning.
