If You Were Me... -- Shirley's 412nd Friendly Greeting from Beijing, July 28, 2013

Hi,Dear Friends

How are you? Have you had a good week? Are you enjoying your weekend? I hope you have and you are.

On my side, according to my plan, I have completed the painting below, took back my long scroll of Voiced, Bilingual Poetry and Painting Series (you can see it with me on the photo right). I have also moved into my new apartment that is clean, quiet, with TV, wood floor and beautiful furniture in a good environment for 4 days and booked my airplane ticket to fly back Shenzhen tomorrow.

However, since the night I moved into the new apartment, I have been puzzling by some terrible smell from the restroom and the cabinets of the kitchen, so that I could not get sleepy and had to take painkillers to stop my headache. Since early morning today, I have been suffering the sharp stomach-ache.

After talking with the landlord, the taskmaster who took charge of the work came to check their work. Can you imagine? The workers did not fix the tubes in the restroom and in the kitchen, but just simply connected them together. In case you draw the tubes, they could be drawn out. That was why, when I used the water in the kitchen, the water was in the cabinets.

This situation has not only destroyed my good and lucky heart for I had found a nice place to live for my next class year, but also, it has destroyed my trust to the quality of the building totally. Even though the taskmaster has fixed all of the things in person, the bad smell has been reduced from the kitchen, I could not breathe as soon as I open the door of the restroom in the morning; and I still feel some bad smell when I open the doors of the cabinets in the kitchen. I am worrying about the smell is from the bad quality building materials and not only from the sewers. It will certainly hurt my health. Especially in the minter when I cannot open the windows. In fact, I have felt uncomfortable on my throat and started to cough since the second night I lived into the new apartment.

So, I will withdraw from this apartment even though I will lose the money for 2 months since I have paid already.

Meanwhile, I am thinking whether it is the time for me to stop my study that has last for 5 years since 2008 in USA and in Beijing temporarily, to have a short reunion with my family in Wuxi City and in Australia? To think of and to work on upgrading the web site and improving the quality of the publication of my project intently for a while?

If you were me, what would you do? Do you have anything special to share?
