Remarks: This is my 805th painting since 2003and the 440th Chinese Xieyi Painting, the 200th assignment that I have completed in Chinese National Academy of Arts .
This is the 22nd painting that I painted for the series stories and my long scrollゞ屈噴膨丐〃: Er Shi Si Xiao Tu -- The Twenty-Four Dutiful Children .
This story names: 境喟沢附壤幻-- Dong Yong Buried His Father by Sold Himself.
Dong Yong was from Qiansheng( in today¨s the Shandong Province)in the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220).
His mother passed away when he was young. For dodging from the scourge of war, with his father together, his family moved to Anlu (in today¨s Hubei Province).
Thereafter, his father was dead, for burying father, Dong Yong sold himself to a rich family as a slave.
One day, under a locust tree on the road to work, he met a girl who said she was homeless and without a place of refuge, then both of them became wife and husband. The girl did so wonderful jobs so that she knitted 300 bolts of silk brocade within 1 month, with the silk brocade, they paid the debt, and redeemed Dong Yong freedom.
Under the locust tree on the road they went back home, the lady told Dong Yong, she was the daughter of the God, she was just ordered to help Dong Yong to pay back the debt, after speaking the words, she flew up to the sky faraway.
The name of Xiaogan City in Hubei just got its name becaus of this story, Xiaogan means the filial piety of Gong Yong had moved the God so that he sent his daughter to help him.
About 1 month ago, I paint this painting with a moved heart.
