Title: Chinese Bai Miao--031: Peony & Little Chickens Practice
Artist: Shirley Yiping Zhang
Size: 60cm x 60cm (23.62inches x 23.62 inches)
Completed Time: Friday, September 15, 2006
Remarks:
This is my 31st Chinese Bai Miao Painting.

Baimiao is painted with lines by Chinese ink. It is a step of Chinese Gongbi painting and also a single Chinese painting.

At first, it was a draft for a Gongbi Dancai or Gongbi Zhongcai; then it was developed into a single art form by the ancient Chinese artist Li Gonglin (1049¨C1106).

It can also be colored. If it has been colored with light color, we call it Gongbi Dancai; if it has been colored with heavy color, we call it Gongbi Zhongcai.

I have painted many Chinese Bai Miao in the past years, but this is the first time I have painted it on a piece of silk. :-)

It has a very special feel. The skill of painting the line is the most important part for a Bai Miao. :-)

Do you like this kind of art form? Do you like it if I color it to be a Chinese Gongbi painting?

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, welcome to write toshirley@ebridge.cn. :-)
