Shirley Created Picture for the Poem Sep 9, 2007

This is my 55th Combined Paintingthat I have created / painted for Chinese Classical Poetry, and my 655th painting since 2003 ; also, it is my 25th assignment in Chinese National Academy of Arts.

I started this painting on Dec 31, 2011 and I completed it on Jan 2, 2012.

I did not feel it was too difficult to paint it. It spent me much time on re-translating it and to sing it in English and Chinese by accompanying for myself since I wanted to write the poem on the painting.

Several years ago, in Sep, 2007, I created a painting for a poem by Su Shi (1037-1101) in Song Dynasty (960-1129), I had been satisfying it until I went to the Chinese National Academy of Arts. The study there, gave me some new ideas, so that I could not help working on it on the last day in 2011.

Then I re-wrote the comment, the music and re-recorded my singing.

Later, my music professor -- Mr. Meng Weiye will check my music writing and singing, he will also accompany for me to re-record it in a professional record studio/ room by a professional sound engineer.

I really hope that my effort will be some help with you to learn Chinese culture and language.

Main Meaning of the Poem

Beyond the bamboo grove there are few twigs of peach blossoms,
The spring river water gets warm, ducks know it first.
Wormwood herb is everywhere, reed buds just grow.
It is the time that globefish swam upstream.
