LISTEN TO THE TEXTLISTEN TO SHIRLEY PLAY & SING THE POEM

Hi, friends, today, I would like to introduce a new and famous Chinese classical poem Gui Yuan -- Regret From A Boudoir by Tang Dynasty(618 -907) poet Wang Changling(690-757).

Wang Changling is a very famous poet in Tang Dynasty and Chinese poetry history. He wrote not only many wonderful poems about the army life and landscape of the frontier, but also, he wrote many poems about women. This poem just expresses a view that how a young lady missed her husband in the spring, and how she regretted that she had asked her husband to go some far away place to hunt a high rank. Just with 4 lines and 28 words, wrote out a very rich contain. :-)

About Wang Changling and his poetry accomplishment, I have made some introductions in another two poems Chinese Classical Poem 0027: A Song Of Picking Lotus and Chinese Classical Poem--0032: To Send-Off Xin Jian At Lotus Building-- Furong Lou Song Xinjian , you can review them via the links.

MAIN MEANING OF THE POEMLISTEN TO SHIRLEY PLAY & SING THE POEM :

A young lady
who has not known
what's worrying yet,
she dresses up well
and steps up a jade green building
in the spring.
Suddenly she sees the spring scenery
on the poplars and willows
by the roads,
she starts to regret
that she has letted her husband
to go to hunt
a position of marquis...

Attach: A Translation By Mr.Wang Daqing:

A young wife knows no worries in her bower;
In spring gay dress she mounts a jade green tower.
Sudden seeing fresh willows on lake banks.
She hates to have let husband hunt for ranks.
